Taking the Word of Scientists Over the Word of Scripture

The Apostle Paul warned us about being deceived by what is falsely called science (1 Timothy 6:20). Many things are portrayed as science that are not true science and many things are said by so-called scientists that are not true at all. Still, the tendency today is to believe everything “science” and “scientists” say. Anyone refusing to do so is looked upon as a superstitious simpleton.
To avoid being branded as brainless backwoodsmen, most people today nod their heads in agreement to all the scientific community blathers. Take for example Rev. George Coyne, the Vatican’s chief astronomer, who said yesterday that “intelligent design isn’t science even though it pretends to be.” According to Rev. Coyne, we must “respect the results of modern science” and “move away from the notion of a…designer God.” In other words, we must take the words of today’s so-called scientists over the Word of God—the Bible.
Well, I don’t know about you, but I’ll not be joining Rev. Coyne in throwing out the Book of Genesis and throwing down with evolutionists and their cockamamie theories. I believe I’ll stay in the backwoods. Call me silly, but I still believe God is smarter than man and that an intricately designed universe is proof positive of an intelligent Designer.
