In no way is this Wilderness Voice intended to serve as a character witness for Matt Gaetz. I don’t know Mr. Gaetz, and like most Americans, all I know about him is what I’ve heard from his numerous detractors on both sides of the political aisle, as well as from our unscrupulous mainstream media, which presently has the credibility of Bernie Madoff at the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. Yet, as always, there are certain facts that can be gleaned from the political fray and a fictitious press that can prove to be most informative. Indeed, in this case—the curious case of Matt Gaetz—they serve as a forewarning of the fierce fight looming between the incoming Trump Administration and its government imbedded RINO resisters.

Have you ever heard of Gustave, the enormous Nile Crocodile that has supposedly killed 300 people? Well, the D.C. Swamp has its own Gustave, though it is is better known as the Uniparty. Comprised of both progressive Democrats and establishment Republicans, the Uniparty serves not only as Washington D.C.’s most terrifying “Swamp Thing,” but also as the sentinel of the status quo, the custodian of government corruption, the standard-bearer of business as usual, and the cutthroat character assassin of all who dare to threaten its entrenched political power.

Matt Gaetz is a real and present danger to D.C.’s “Gustave.” Whatever else he might be, he’s a crocodile hunter that has the crocs of our capital scurrying for cover. For instance, in spite of what you’ve heard, Gaetz’s vacating of the Speaker’s Chair, during RINO Kevin McCarthy’s speakership, was not showboating by a wannabe muckety-muck, but a principled stand that pretty much bankrupted Gaetz of political capital. Still, Gaetz, along with a handful of other daring Swamp drainers, were willing to pay such a high price for their courageous and uncompromised opposition to the Uniparty’s ongoing bankrupting of our country over its refusal to fulfill its constitutional obligations. Not only was Matt Gaetz ridiculed by Democrats, reviled by most Republicans, and renounced by the media for stripping the Speaker’s gavel from one of the Republican Party’s biggest reptiles, but he was also accosted on the House floor by another Republican, who had to be physically restrained from going after Gaetz.

Being caught in the crosshairs of the Uniparty, for daring to cross their cabal, Gaetz quickly found himself under investigation, not only by the Biden Justice Department, but also by the House Ethics Committee. However, the Biden Justice Department, out of no love loss for Gaetz, was forced to abandon its investigation of him, because of the investigation’s complete lack of credible witnesses. Yet, the House Ethics Committee, based solely on the basis of Gaetz’s discredited accusers, continued its investigation for over a year. Then, when Gaetz was nominated by Donald Trump to be his Attorney General, which was not only heard as an ear-splitting sucking sound throughout Washington D.C., but was also seen as a serious stab at sucking the Swamp dry, the House Ethics committee threatened to publicly hang out all the dirty laundry it had spent a whole year amassing against Gaetz. Furthermore, the committee’s amassed dirty laundry against Gaetz was suddenly and anonymously leaked to the press, while both Democrats and Republicans started lining up in opposition to Trump’s nomination of Gaetz for Attorney General with clothespins on their noses.

Is Matt Gaetz really the source of the stench coming out of Washington D.C., or, in the words of William Shakespeare, “Is there something rotten in the state of Denmark?” The real obnoxious odor permeating the present-day fruited plain is actually oozing out of the Uniparty; that is, the “Gustave” of the D.C. Swamp. It’s not Matt Gaetz, whose nomination to be Trump’s Attorney General has now sunk into the quicksand of the bog of Foggy Bottom, but the skunk apes populating the place that are stinking it up. As Trump prepares to step back into the quagmire of Washington D.C., there’s a good chance, as the sunken nomination of Matt Gaetz proves, that he’ll once again find himself, as he did in his first term as president, in the death roll of old “Gustave.” Make no mistake about it, neither progressive Democrats nor Republican RINOs are about to surrender the Swamp without fighting to the death to preserve it.
