Twenty-four governors, all Republicans, have sent a letter to the Biden Administration protesting its potential signing of the United Nations' World Health Organization's pandemic treaty, which would, according to these governors, give the World Health Organization (WHO) “unprecedented and unconstitutional powers over the United States and its people.” If signed and ratified, the WHO would be elevated from a global advisory board to a global governing authority. It alone would be able to declare global health emergencies, and once declared, regardless of whether the emergency was actual or merely potential, the WHO would be able to autocratically restrict the rights and freedoms of all people. Perhaps nothing is more unfortunate in today’s America than the fact that we have long since forgotten what our Founding Fathers certainly understood and clearly acknowledged. They realized, as should we, that no form of representative government can survive, much less succeed, apart from the populace’s practice of moral self-restraint. Furthermore, they understood that moral self-restraint would only be practiced by people who believed in God, the Judge of all the earth to whom all men must one day give an account. This explains why John Adams said, “Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.”
