In our last post, in this important series of posts, we showed how America is becoming the end-time world’s Tower of Babel; that is, the spearhead of this fallen world’s final attempt at creating its own heaven on earth, through a one world government, and its own way into heaven, through its own false religion. In this post, we’ll begin to prove to you that America is also the book of Revelation’s “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH” (Revelations 17:5).

To unveil the identity of Revelation’s “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT,” we need to begin by looking back over our shoulder to ancient Babylon. Thanks to the 20/20 hindsight of history, we can clearly see today that the site of the ancient Tower of Babel, where fallen man first attempted to forge for himself a world power, actually became the site of human history’s first world power. Ancient Babylon was this fallen world’s first great Gentile world power! It is therefore spoken of in Scripture as “great” (Daniel 4:30), as “the jewel” and “queen of kingdoms” (Isaiah 13:9; 47:5), and as “the glory of the Babylonians’ pride” and “the praise of the whole earth” (Isaiah 47:5; Jeremiah 51:41). Obviously, such glowing terms depict Babylon from the world’s perspective rather than from heaven’s perspective. After all, in the eyes of God, ancient Babylon, just like its predecessor, the Tower of Babel, was nothing more than another futile attempt by fallen man to forge his own way to heaven, through his false religions, and to create his own heaven on earth, through a one world government.

According to the ancient Prophet Isaiah, all the existing nations of our world, which includes America, as well as all the nations that have ever existed, which includes Babylon, are nothing more in the eyes of God than a “drop in the bucket” (Isaiah 40:15). Indeed, the destruction of ancient Babylon, the glory of the ancient world, by the Medes and the Persians is given no more space in sacred Scripture than a single verse. According to Daniel 5:31, “And Darius the Median took the kingdom [Babylon], being about threescore and two years old.” Although man sees the rise and fall of a great world power like Babylon as most significant, God sees it as so insignificant that it barely deserves mention in His Word.

If we are to truly understand the Scriptural significance of Babylon, we must understand that every occurrence of the word “Babylon” in Scripture is not a literal reference to ancient Babylon, the world’s first great Gentile world power. Instead, the word “Babylon” is often used in Scripture symbolically. For instance, Babylon is often used in Scripture to symbolize the kingdom of man or the kingdom of the world, just as Jerusalem is often used in Scripture to symbolize the kingdom of God or the kingdom of Heaven.

As any serious student of the Scripture knows, Jerusalem and Babylon are the two most talked about cities in the Bible. In addition, Scripture portrays them as antitypes—the absolute antithesis of one another. For example, Jerusalem is the home and center of true religion, but Babylon is the home and center of false religion. Jerusalem is the city of righteousness, but Babylon is the city of wickedness. And Jerusalem is the capital of the kingdom of God, but Babylon is the capital of the kingdom of man.

These Scriptural contrasts between Jerusalem and Babylon reach their crescendo in the book of Revelation. Here, Jerusalem symbolizes the city of God and the bride of Christ, which John sees from a great and high mountain coming down out of Heaven adorned for her Husband in the clean, white, and fine linen of righteousness (Revelation 3:12; 19:8; 21:9-10). On the other hand, Revelation symbolizes Babylon as the habitation of devils and every foul spirit, as well as the great whore, who John sees in the wilderness of this world seductively dressed in scarlet and purple and provocatively bejeweled in gold, precious stones, and pearls (Revelation 17:1-4; 18:2).

Along with symbolizing the kingdom of man on earth, Scripture also uses Babylon to symbolize the center of man’s earthly kingdom. Just as ancient Babylon, this fallen world’s first great Gentile world power, was the center of man’s earthly kingdom in its day, all succeeding “Babylons"—great Gentile world powers—have been the center of man’s earthly kingdom in their day. For instance, in 1 Peter 5:13, the Apostle Peter calls Rome “Babylon,” because Rome was the great Gentile world power of Peter’s day. At the time Peter penned his epistles, Rome, not ancient Babylon, which lay in ruins, was the political, economic, cultural, and religious center of the world.

In light of all of the above, it should become obvious to us that Revelation’s “MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT” is to be understood as a symbol of the great Gentile world power upon the earth at the end of time. Now, if we are living at the end of time, which I’m confidently convinced of by Scripture, then, there is only one nation in the world today that foots the bill for this Biblically predicted end-time role. It is America, the world’s only remaining superpower.

Notice, the book of Revelation not only characterizes the world’s end-time BABYLON (superpower) as “GREAT,” the greatest power there has ever been in the history of the world, but also as a “MYSTERY.” The Greek word for “MYSTERY” means a “hidden truth.” The biblically predicted superpower of the end-time world was hidden from preceding generations. There was simply no way they could have foreseen its rise to unprecedented world power. Is this not uniquely true of America? How could past generations have foreseen the rise of today’s phenomenal end-time superpower, when the American continent was not even discovered until the fifteenth century, America was not founded as a nation until the eighteenth century, and America did not rise to world supremacy until the twentieth century?

America is undoubtedly the political, economic, cultural, and religious center of today’s world, just as Rome was in Peter’s day. When it comes to politics, we are not only the home of the United Nations, but our capital, Washington DC, is called “the capital of the free world.” When it comes to economics, as Wall Street goes, so goes the economies of the world. When it comes to culture, there’s simply no way to overestimate the influence of ours on the rest of the world. For instance, our fast food has changed the way the world dines and our bluejeans have changed the way the world dresses. And when it comes to religion, we’ve long been known as the world's champion of religious liberty, which explains why more religions, cults, sects, and denominations are headquartered in America than in any other country in the world.

I believe this post is sufficient, in and of itself, to prove to any openminded person that Lady Liberty is no longer a lady, but has become the great whore of the book of Revelation. However, believe it or not, the evidence I’ve presented in this post is just the tip of the iceberg. There’s much more proof to come, along with some phenomenal revelations, which, when seen in the light of national and international events, will light up Bible prophecy like a neon sign! Stay tuned, and in the mean time, mull over in your heart the meaty fare of this prophetic post.
