Two stories in the news that deserve special notice, because of the overlooked devil in the details of both. First, Mark Houck, a pro-life Christian, who was arrested in an armed FBI raid on his home before his terrified children, has been acquitted of violating the federal government's Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act. The case against Houck, which was brought by a prochoice activist, who got into a sidewalk scuffle with Houck at an abortion clinic, after the activist harassed Houck's son, was thrown out of state court. However, in spite of the state court dismissing it as a ridiculous false accusation brought by a partisan activist against an innocent person, Joe Biden's Department of Justice picked it up, charged Houck with a federal crime, and attempted to imprison him for 11 years. Now, some may take solace in Houck's acquittal by a jury, but I am terribly troubled by a judicial system that tries innocent people on trumped-up charges for political purposes. Aren't you?
Second, I learned yesterday that Jack Phillips, the Christian owner of Colorado's Masterpiece Cakeshop, as well as the LGBTQ+ community's favorite dartboard, has lost another lawsuit brought against him by a militant homosexual in the state's Court of Appeals. Unlike a previous suit, which was brought by a same-sex couple against Phillips for refusing to make them a wedding cake, and which was appealed all the way to the Supreme Court, before Phillips won on a technicality, this new suit was brought by a transgendered woman for whom Phillips refused to make a cake celebrating the man's gender transition. It looks like Phillips is doomed to spend the rest of his life in court, being sued by militant homosexuals, who insist on having this Christian's cakes and eating them too.
The really disconcerting part of Phillips' never-ending-story, a part which must not be overlooked, is that our Supreme Court ruled in his favor in the previous case on a mere technicality, alleging that the Colorado Civil Rights Commission had not employed religious neutrality when charging Phillips with “discriminating” against the gay couple. Our high and cowardly court refused to rule on the fundamental issue of religious freedom; that is, on whether or not a Christian business owner has the right to deny services to customers that violate his or her deeply held Christian beliefs and convictions. Our chicken-little Supreme Court steered clear of this fundamental constitutional right, lest they infuriate the far Left and precipitate mass protests at their residences and possible assassination attempts upon their persons. By doing so, they've left the door open for the militant LGBTQ+ community to repeatedly rush through in its perpetual persecution and prosecution of Jack Phillips, who has been hung out to dry by black robed yellow-bellies!
