Everyday God's Word is confirmed to me in a multitude of ways. I see its truthfulness everywhere I look, as well as its predictions coming true in everything that's going on. Still, my desperate attempts to point out to others what is so obvious to me is met mostly with opposition from those to whom these things are totally obscured. Even this, however, is confirmation of God's Word, which teaches us that unbelievers cannot see the truths of God, because they are spiritually discerned (1 Corinthians 2:14). Tragically, most people today are like Pontus Pilate, who couldn’t see the Truth standing right in front of his nose (John 18:38).

Recently I had a most exasperating experience with atheists and evolutionists on Twitter. Their vehement arguments against God's existence and the truths of His Word actually verified that the Bible is true. Without going into too many details, their evidence against God's existence boiled down to the fact that I wear eyeglasses and octopuses don't. Yes, I'm not making this up. Remember, the Bible teaches that men don’t deny the obvious existence of an intelligent Creator behind the incontrovertible evidence of an intricately designed creation because of their smarts, science, or scholarship, but simply because of their sin (Romans 1:18-22). The Bible also teaches that men can become so steeped in sin and hostile toward God that they end up "sick in the head" (Isaiah 1:4-5). They end up willing to stoop to anything and stop at nothing, no matter how profane or preposterous, to deny their sin against God and their accountability to Him.

Where this conversation on Twitter really made a strange turn that further confirmed the truth of God's Word was when the subject of octopuses was brought up. Suddenly, all of these atheists and evolutions forgot about disparaging me, denouncing the Bible, and blaspheming God—their Creator—and began in unison to sound the praises of certain creatures, like the "Mantis Shrimp" and the "Brown Hawker Dragonfly." Flashing into my mind from the light of God's Spirit was the truth of Scripture being played out right before my very eyes. These people, just like God's Word teaches, had exchanged the praise of their Creator for the praise of His creatures and were willing to glorify creatures instead of their Creator (Romans 1:23-28). How heartbreakingly hardhearted and spiritually blind they all proved to be, which prompted me to cease from my vain attempts to witness any further to these spiritual reprobates. I shook the dust off my feet and moved on, so as not to waste anymore time casting my pearls before swine (Matthew 10:14; 7:6).

It was the Apostle Paul who admonished the young minister Timothy to "avoid godless, foolish discussions with those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge" (1 Timothy 6:20 NLT). The King James Version translates "those who oppose you with their so-called knowledge" as "oppositions of science falsely so called.”

For some time now I’ve seen some striking similarities between today's so-called science and ancient Gnosticism, which was a cult that opposed the Christian faith in its fledgling years by attempting to undermine the teachings of the Scripture. Gnostics, like the advocates of today’s so-called science, believed themselves alone to possess the “gnosis”; that is, “to be in the know.” Being self-proclaimed possessors of superior enlightenment and intelligence, Gnostics chalked up all dissent to their dogma as ignorance and looked down their noses at anyone refusing to unquestionably agree with their dictates as unenlightened ignoramuses; despite the fact that their religious tenets were absolutely ridiculousness. Of course, they attributed others’ view of their beliefs as preposterous to the fact that others were simply not bright enough to understand the brilliance of their balderdash.

How similar to the ancient Gnostics are those worshiping at the shrine of today’s so-called science? They too believe themselves intellectually superior and peer down their noses at all who refuse indoctrination into their creed as intellectually inferior. Indeed, they view all Bible believers as not only their intellectual inferiors, but also as intellectually impaired. According to them, our failure to understand the intellectual superiority of evolution’s—“In the beginning nothing”—over the Bible’s—“In the beginning God”—is due to the fact that we’re not smart enough to see the genius of their gobbledygook.

Like the Apostle Paul, who was accused in his day of being imbecilic (Acts 26:24), I too am proud to be a “fool for Christ's sake” (1 Corinthians 4:10). I may be looked down upon from the ivory towers of today’s academia and dismissed by today’s so-called science as a simpleton, but I’ll stake the eternal destiny of my immortal soul on God’s Son and the truths of Scripture rather than on the tenets of today’s so-called science. In the end, we’ll find out who was really crazy!
