According to polls, most Americans now believe that people can be good (moral) without God. However, Jesus taught that God is the only good and apart from God there is no good (Mark 10:18). Therefore, to deny God is to discard good or morality, since it denies the Judge of all the earth, who alone is the final arbiter of good and evil, as well as the One to whom all men must ultimately answer.
Atheism has no morals, because it has no God! Without belief in God, morality becomes a mere matter of each man's individual and subjective opinion, which is no more authoritative than any other man's opinion. Therefore, what atheists call morality is just their personal opinions of what is right and wrong for themselves. It is each man doing what is right in his own eyes. It is also, most disturbingly, the same fatal sin committed by Adam and Eve in the shade beneath the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the Garden of Eden. It is man's usurpation of God's place in his life as the final arbiter of right and wrong. It is to live by your wit rather than God's Word and by human reason rather than divine revelation.
It appears there is no shortage of forbidden fruit pickers in today's America. In fact, according to polls, the majority of Americans are now fruity enough to find no fault with the self-deified, who commandeer the place of Christ in their lives by deciding for themselves what is good and evil.
